Hiking Tip 2: City of Salzburg

Start your day with an extended breakfast at Cafe Tomaselli, probably the oldest traditional coffehouse in Salzburg.

After that, take a short boat trip to the magnificent Hellbrunn Palace. On the walk through the large park, you can really switsch off from everyday life and relax.

And be sure to visit the trick fountains - the bubbling fountains and grottos mean there will not be a dry eye left.

Lunch in a historic ambience

Historic Hellbrunn Palace provides the ideal framework for a culinary break. In "Gasthaus Gassner" at the Palace, they serve fine delicacies for every taste. Lavishly bedecked tables form a brilliant contrast to the traditional floorboards. In fine weather, you can enjoy your lunch in the tavern's elegant garden.

Afternoon coffee at Gössl Gwandhaus

Before returning in the late afternoon, briefly visit Hellbrunn's Zoo. Then stroll via the park and Hellbrunner Allee to the banks of the River Salzach. There is a lovely footpath along the bank, through the Volksgarten and back to our hotel.

As an alternative, proceed to Gössl Gwandhaus. With its bright yellow facade and splendid ornamentation, this building is a perfect embodiment of typical Salzburg architecture. In fine weather, take a seat in the terrace where you'll enjoy an amazing panoramic view over the surrounding area.

A great end to the day

In the evening, stop at the K&K Restaurant on Waagplatz square, which offers an outstanding menu including both local and international dalicacies. At the same time, this restaurant ist the perfect starting point for an evening stroll through Salzburg's illuminated center.

For an authentic finish to your day, a detour to Steinterrasse where you can enjoy delicious drinks an a spectacular view, is recommended.

Then a relaxing sleep in our hotel - and you don't have far to go: return via historic Steingasse, one of the city's oldest streets, to Haus Arenberg.
